Challenge

I read this article today about a couple that was married 72 years! They died within a day of each other. Other than taking marriage seriously and sticking it out (I’m sure they had the same problems as we all do, but instead of giving up worked it out), when people asked them for marriage advice the answer was, “Be kind, lift each other up, don’t put each other down.”

I think this is great advice not just for married people, but for ALL people. Wouldn’t everyone be happier, and even a wider thought, wouldn’t the world be nicer to live in if we encouraged, and supported each other?

I know it’s an old saying, but here’s a challenge – for one week if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Build Financial Security One Month at a Time - Simply Invest!

One of those days!

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. Today is one of those days. So, I’m trying to switch my focus to something outside of me, which is working on the webinar I will be presenting next week. Some days the only thing that keeps me going is the hope that I am helping someone somewhere better some part of their life. So thank you world wide web – maybe you will help me do that.

Violet Blooms

With Patience Love Blossoms

This is Violet. I have had her for about 25 years. She has been thru a couple of cross-country moves and almost died a couple of times – she bounced back but never flowered. I am so excited to share this with you because it is the 1st time she’s bloomed in about 10 years! Isn’t she pretty?

2014 Happy New Year

There are 365 days in 2014

I am not one for New Year’s resolutions. It sets a tone for the whole year. And if you don’t succeed, you feel bad. Sure, I’ve made them before, “Oh, I’m going to exercise more, eat better, and volunteer at a charity!” I would start out with good intentions, might even do it for a month or two, and then the momentum gets lost and I would fail. Sound familiar?

When we fail we become discouraged and we don’t try again. It was our New Year’s resolution, it didn’t work, and we don’t need to try again until next year.

I think that every day, every moment is a chance to make a resolution. And, if it doesn’t work out, the next day is a chance to start again – there are 365 days in 2014. 365 days to make a change. I think that’s one of the beauties of life – you have a chance to evolve everyday.

Ahhh…the Holiday’s

Whatever you celebrate in December, I feel the idea is all the same – to love, to cherish, to thank, to unite, to celebrate, and most importantly – to care. To care about others needs before your own. At this time of the year people do nice things for others they normally wouldn’t do – whether that is giving to charity, calling a distant relative or old friend to see how they are doing, or something as simple as opening the door for a stranger – it’s funny that every year we all wish that this feeling could last all year. But as the last of the leftovers are eaten, and the decorations are put away, the feeling fades and we all go back to our “normal” routines…it would be nice if it lasted longer this time.
